Interviewee
I interviewee my grandmother she came from Canada.
1. Why did you come to America?
I Came to America because I met and married an American during World War II.
2. Do you like it better in America or Canada? Why?
I like America but I miss my family that still lives in Canada We have always went to Canada at least once a year to visit but it is not the same. Once I had a family of my own it made it a little easier. Canada is not that much different that America.
3. When did you come to America?
I was 16 years old when we married and came to America, and I was from a very small town so it was a lot different.
4. What culture differences are the in Canada rather the America?
There are really not any differences, just family traditions.
5. What traditions do you still have today had you had in Canada?
I am not sure if it is a Canadian Tradition more like a family tradition that on Christmas the family all stay at one house. This tradition was kept up through my Grandchildren although since we have quite a big family now we are straying a way from it.
6. Did you have any problems coming to America?
No I was married to an American so there were no legal problems, But I family did worry about me leaving. The priest from our small town in northern Ontario didn’t even want to marry us till my mother persuaded him.
7. Who did you come to America with?
I came with my new husband but I left my family in Canada and at the time it was one of the hardest decisions in my life but it was also one of the best decisions of my life.
