Immigrants are part of America, most all Americans have ancestors from another country. The big questions is illegal immigrants should they be able to take the jobs away from the citizens or get American health care, or go to American colleges. People have concerns with President Obama’s Immigration reform. “One of Obama's campaign pledges was to deal with illegal immigration, yet it has not happened yet. One of the major problems our country faces is how to handle the 12 million illegal immigrants and how to prevent future illegal immigration.” 2
I feel that if the illegal immigrants become legal and pay their taxes they have every right as everyone else does. But to work in the U.S and send money home illegally to your country and not pay taxes the way every citizen does then you should be locked up.” Immigration is a net drain on the economy; corporate interests reap the benefits of cheap labor, while taxpayers pay the infrastructural cost... $60 billion dollars are earned by illegal aliens in the U.S. each year.”1 While companies are hiring Illegal immigrants because they don’t have to pay them as much. The U.S. does not get taxes from the illegal immigrants cost the U.S. Government a lot of money.” U.S.”
The health care in the U.S. for citizens is not doing very well since unemployment is through the roof the unemployed citizens are without health care or paying for it. “The current law requires legal aliens to wait five years before they can access certain taxpayer-funded health benefits. Secondly, verification loopholes allow illegal aliens access to these benefits. Third, the language of the bill does not prevent illegal aliens accessing these benefits. “2 So this means that the U.S. citizens are doing without or paying high prices for health care so they don’t lose their houses while illegal immigrants can get through the loopholes to get good health care.
As high school students we all know how hard it is to get into college and pay for it being citizens of the U.S does not always help.” Under House and Senate bills known as the Dream Act, illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. as children -- defined as age 15 and under -- and have lived here for five years could apply to the Homeland Security Department for conditional legal status after graduating from high school. Such legal status would make the immigrants eligible for in-state college tuition rates and some forms of federal financial aid.”3 So illegal immigrants are getting in-state tuition and financial aid while the middle class has to come out of college with loans to pay.
The government has to stop making it so easy for the illegal immigrants, Once they are in the U.S. it seems like the government hands them everything instead of punishing them for coming here illegally.” The Congressional Budget Office estimates that illegal aliens in this country will increase by 700,000 to 900,000 annually during the next 20 years.”2 The government has to get some control on this issue.
