The Journey
Pablo and his two kids want to take the journey to America. He knew it was a better place and he could make money easier. Pablo’s cousin took the journey the month before and they were caught by the boarder control. They were sent back to Mexico and had to pay a fine. They were also told if they were to get caught trying that again they would be arrested. Pablo realized the town he’s been living in was no place to raise kids. After his wife died a few months earlier, he grasps how bad of an area it was. Pablo’s wife was walking to the market and she was killed from the cross fire of a gang fight. Pablo figured what was a better place to go than America. He knew it would be a hard with two little kids, but he wanted a better life for his kids.
Once he saved enough money they started on the voyage. Pablo and his kids started at the dead of night. It was ten mile walk to the boarder then they had to find a way to cross the boarder. He knew it was uncertain that they could make it to America, but they made it this far so they had to go all the way. As they were crossing the boarder there was a group other illegal immigrants that just got caught Pablo was hiding at the time. Once the boarder control left they made a run for it. They got a ride form a farmer to Pablo’s friend’s house. His friend in Texas had a place to stay and a job for him until he made enough money to get a place of their own. The two kids went to school in Texas and Pablo got a job working the fields of the farmer that pick him up.
A few months latter Pablo had enough money to get a place for himself. He was going to buy a small cottage but the real state agent said that he had to be a US citizen for the loan. Pablo left and he was mad because he had the money for the down payment and he could buy the house. He talked to the farmer and he said the he could become a citizen. Pablo applied for it and he got citizenship for the US. Now Pablo has a bigger house then he first tried to buy and both his kids are doing very well in school.
Research
Immigrants are part of America, most all Americans have ancestors from another country. The big questions is illegal immigrants should they be able to take the jobs away from the citizens or get American health care, or go to American colleges. People have concerns with President Obama’s Immigration reform. “One of Obama's campaign pledges was to deal with illegal immigration, yet it has not happened yet. One of the major problems our country faces is how to handle the 12 million illegal immigrants and how to prevent future illegal immigration.” 2
I feel that if the illegal immigrants become legal and pay their taxes they have every right as everyone else does. But to work in the U.S and send money home illegally to your country and not pay taxes the way every citizen does then you should be locked up.” Immigration is a net drain on the economy; corporate interests reap the benefits of cheap labor, while taxpayers pay the infrastructural cost... $60 billion dollars are earned by illegal aliens in the U.S. each year.”1 While companies are hiring Illegal immigrants because they don’t have to pay them as much. The U.S. does not get taxes from the illegal immigrants cost the U.S. Government a lot of money.” U.S.”
The health care in the U.S. for citizens is not doing very well since unemployment is through the roof the unemployed citizens are without health care or paying for it. “The current law requires legal aliens to wait five years before they can access certain taxpayer-funded health benefits. Secondly, verification loopholes allow illegal aliens access to these benefits. Third, the language of the bill does not prevent illegal aliens accessing these benefits. “2 So this means that the U.S. citizens are doing without or paying high prices for health care so they don’t lose their houses while illegal immigrants can get through the loopholes to get good health care.
As high school students we all know how hard it is to get into college and pay for it being citizens of the U.S does not always help.” Under House and Senate bills known as the Dream Act, illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. as children -- defined as age 15 and under -- and have lived here for five years could apply to the Homeland Security Department for conditional legal status after graduating from high school. Such legal status would make the immigrants eligible for in-state college tuition rates and some forms of federal financial aid.”3 So illegal immigrants are getting in-state tuition and financial aid while the middle class has to come out of college with loans to pay.
The government has to stop making it so easy for the illegal immigrants, Once they are in the U.S. it seems like the government hands them everything instead of punishing them for coming here illegally.” The Congressional Budget Office estimates that illegal aliens in this country will increase by 700,000 to 900,000 annually during the next 20 years.”2 The government has to get some control on this issue.

America
Neil Diamond
FarWe've been travelling farWithout a homeBut not without a starFreeOnly want to be freeWe huddle closeHang on to a dreamOn the boats and on the planesThey're coming to AmericaNever looking back againThey're coming to AmericaHome, don't it seem so far awayOh, we're travelling light todayIn the eye of the stormIn the eye of the stormHome, to a new and a shiny placeMake our bed, and we'll say our graceFreedom's light burning warmFreedom's light burning warmEverywhere around the worldThey're coming to AmericaEvery time that flag's unfurledThey're coming to AmericaGot a dream to take them thereThey're coming to AmericaGot a dream they've come to shareThey're coming to AmericaThey're coming to AmericaThey're coming to AmericaThey're coming to AmericaThey're coming to AmericaToday, today, today, today, todayMy country 'tis of thee(Today)Sweet land of liberty(today)Of thee I sing(today)Of thee I sing(today)(today)(today)(today

There are really not any differences, just family traditions.

I am not sure if it is a Canadian Tradition more like a family tradition that on Christmas the family all stay at one house. This tradition was kept up through my Grandchildren although since we have quite a big family now we are straying a way from it.

No I was married to an American so there were no legal problems, But I family did worry about me leaving. The priest from our small town in northern Ontario didn’t even want to marry us till my mother persuaded him.

7. Who did you come to America with?
I came with my new husband but I left my family in Canada and at the time it was one of the hardest decisions in my life but it was also one of the best decisions of my life.
